Officers of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) disrupted the activities of a transnational drug trafficking group that allegedly organized the transportation of Afghan-origin narcotics through several countries into Kyrgyzstan and onward to neighboring states.
According to the security service, operational measures established that the criminal network was involved in smuggling, transporting, storing, and distributing large quantities of narcotic substances. The group reportedly included both Kyrgyz citizens and foreign nationals.
Investigators said the drugs were moved along established transit routes from Afghanistan through several countries before entering Kyrgyzstan for further transportation.
During the special operation, SCNS officers used modern technical equipment, drones from the Border Service, and canine units from the State Customs Service to identify trafficking routes and individuals involved in the scheme.
Two citizens of Kyrgyzstan suspected of involvement in the trafficking network were detained. By court order, they were placed in the pretrial detention center of the SCNS.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to identify all members of the international network and shut down remaining trafficking channels.
