UN prepares new strategic cooperation document with Kyrgyzstan

A meeting was held in Bishkek between Bakyt Torobayev, Special Representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan for Special Assignments, and Antje Grawe, the UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The parties discussed the current socio-economic situation in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the outcomes of the meeting of the Strategic Coordination Committee on the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2023–2027.

Bakyt Torobaev noted that the country has demonstrated steady socio-economic growth in recent years. He also outlined the key needs of the regions in agriculture, environmental protection, tourism, access to clean drinking water, and other priority areas.

For her part, Antje Grawe announced the start of work on a new medium-term strategic cooperation document between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Nations system. She also reaffirmed the UN’s readiness for continued cooperation aimed at supporting the country’s sustainable economic growth.
