Doctors from France will assist in implanting pacemakers in three citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Health Minister Damir Osmonov told journalists.
He recalled that in May 2026, during a working visit to France, he visited the Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris — one of the leading multidisciplinary clinics specializing in cardiology, oncology, and high-tech medical care.
«At the arrhythmology department, I raised one of the pressing issues for Kyrgyzstan. As a cardiologist, I wanted to implant a leadless pacemaker in a patient. This is done in cases where there is no direct access to the heart or there is a high risk of infection. However, the issue is that such devices are produced by a limited number of major global companies, and small markets like Kyrgyzstan are not of commercial interest to them. French colleagues agreed to provide three such pacemakers on a grant basis and implant them as part of a master class,» Damir Osmonov said.
Patients will be selected by local specialists among those with difficult access to the heart, vascular complications, or a high risk of infection.
Damir Osmonov emphasized that such devices are not yet available in Kyrgyzstan for any patient.
Cardiovascular diseases remain highly prevalent in the country.
