Schoolchildren from Kyrgyzstan win medals at Balkan Physics Olympiad

All four members of the team of Kyrgyzstan won bronze medals at the Balkan Physics Olympiad, held from June 27 to 30 in Istanbul. These are the country’s first awards in the history of its participation in these competitions.

According to the Ministry of Education, the bronze medals were awarded to:

  • Marsel Kasymov, a 10th-grade student at the Maarif Educational Complex;
  • Nurbol Myrzabekov, a 10th-grade student at the Maarif Educational Complex;
  • Umar Tutashbaev, a 10th-grade student at Gazprom Kyrgyzstan school;
  • Istemi Tazabekov, a 9th-grade student at Seitek-STEM school.

The team was trained by coaches Andrey Sidorenko, Turgunbek Omurkanov, Salizhan Kylychbekov, and Duishon Satybaldiev. Turgunbek Omurkanov served as the team manager.

The ministry noted that this year’s competition included 51 schoolchildren from 13 countries, who solved complex theoretical physics tasks.

The Balkan Physics Olympiad is considered one of the most prestigious international intellectual competitions among schoolchildren and aims to support talented youth, develop interest in physics, and strengthen international cooperation in science education.
