E-commerce - actual direction in EAEU

«E-commerce is an actual direction for development of trade potential of the EAEU,» Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission Arzybek Kozhoshev said at the round table «Development of transport corridors as a strategic direction for realizing the trade and transit potential of EAEU member states.»

According to him, it is necessary to actively create all the necessary conditions for the access of domestic producers of the union to electronic trading platforms. It is necessary to build fair and transparent «rules of the game» and ensure protection of the rights and interests of all participants of the electronic commerce.

«Comprehensive work has already been started in the EAEU to develop this segment of the economy. Back in November 2021, the heads of government of the participating countries approved a roadmap to create favorable conditions for the development of electronic commerce in the union. It is planned to form an appropriate regulatory framework, ensure barrier-free movement of goods within the framework of mutual electronic trade in goods, control and countering unfair business practices, as well as interaction with third states and international associations,» Arzybek Kozhoshev said.

At year-end 2022, the share of sales in e-commerce took an average of 7.8 percent of the total retail volume across the EAEU, and the total volume of e-commerce exceeded $88 billion.
