A driver suspected of causing a fatal traffic accident in Kant town, Chui region, has been detained.
According to the Main Internal Affairs Department of the region, the road accident occurred on the evening of May 21 on Bishkek — Naryn — Torugart road at the intersection of Kurenkeev and Lenin streets.
Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle, drove through the intersection, and crashed into a dental clinic building. The car caught fire after the impact.
As a result of the accident, the driver and two passengers were hospitalized with various injuries. Another passenger, 28, died at the scene.
Investigators established that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 312 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (Violation of traffic safety and vehicle operation rules.) The suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
The investigation is ongoing.
