On May 30, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, O.K., 23, died as a result of a traffic accident in the city of Kuldja, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
According to competent Chinese authorities, the driver involved in the accident has been detained. Chinese law enforcement agencies are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances and causes of the accident.
The Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic is in constant contact with competent Chinese authorities, the medical facility, and the relatives of the deceased citizen, providing the necessary consular and legal assistance.
The embassy is also working on arranging the repatriation of the body to Kyrgyzstan. The ministry said the matter is under its control.
It was noted that relatives of Kyrgyzstanis who die abroad are entitled to a one-time state payment to cover repatriation costs (cargo-200), in accordance with government decree No. 169 of April 23, 2021.
