Kyrgyzstan seeks membership in Islamic Investment Insurance Corporation

Kyrgyzstan is seeking membership in the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC). The issue was discussed by Deputy Finance Minister Nurbek Akzholov and ICIEC Director General Khalid Khalafalla.

According to the ministry’s press service, the parties reviewed the prospects of Kyrgyzstan joining the corporation. It was noted that the ICIEC Board of Governors is expected to convene in the near future to consider Kyrgyzstan’s application.

Kyrgyz officials said that membership in ICIEC would expand opportunities for attracting investment, strengthen the country’s export potential, and enhance international economic cooperation.

The Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit is a multilateral international financial institution within the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group. It acts as a multilateral insurer, providing services in full compliance with Sharia principles.
