In August, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will make a state visit to Kyrgyzstan, during which the opening of Seidikum checkpoint will be discussed. Mirzamir Sydykov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Border Service and Chief of the General Staff, said at a meeting of the Zhogorku Kenesh Committee on International Affairs.
Deputy Aibek Altynbekov noted that all checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border are already open, with the exception of Seidikum. He stated that its opening would be economically beneficial for Bazar-Korgon district.
According to the deputy head of the Border Service, the intergovernmental commission of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan continues its work. The parties are discussing agreements on checkpoints, as part of which a meeting was held in Namangan on June 18.
«Amendments have been made to the agreement on checkpoints, including regarding the Seidikum checkpoint. The President of Uzbekistan will make a state visit to Kyrgyzstan in August, during which this issue will be brought up for signature,» he said.
