Shamshy reservoir is scheduled to be commissioned in Kochkor district in 2026. President Sadyr Japarov announced this during a meeting with residents of Naryn region.
According to him, the facility will improve the irrigation system in the region.
Once operational, the reservoir will ensure a stable water supply to 1,704 hectares of agricultural land. It will also open the way for the development of an additional 1.6 hectares of new irrigated land.
The cost of construction of Shamshy reservoir is $16 million.
