Shipment of drugs seized on Kyrgyz-Tajik border

State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan reported the seizure of a large shipment of narcotics at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

According to the agency, border guards from Leilek border detachment, acting on received information, observed an unidentified individual on the territory of Tajikistan throwing a large bag across the border into Kyrgyz territory near the Mal-Bazar area in Arka-2 district of Batken region before fleeing deeper into neighboring territory.

Upon inspection, officers found $1,000 in cash and 16 packages wrapped in yellow tape with a distinctive odor inside the bag. After opening the packages, authorities discovered a brown substance suspected to be Afghan charas (hashish).

The total weight of the seized substance was 15.95 kilograms.After completing the paperwork, the cash and the discovered narcotic substance were handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation.
