Last year, compared to 2021, the number of bank cards of Visa system increased by 761,300, or 1.6 times. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan provided the data in its report.
If at the end of 2021 there were 1.2 million cards of the international Visa system in the country, then by the end of last year the figure had grown to 2 million cards. At the same time, the number of cards of the national Elcard system increased by 742,100 pieces — from 2.2 million to 3 million.
At year-end 2022, the ratio of the number of bank cards also changed. The share of Visa cards increased from 34.2 to 39.1 percent. If in 2021 Elcard accounted for 60.4 percent of all cards, then at the end of last year this figure dropped to 57.5 percent.
The share of cards of Zolotaya Korona system has almost halved. If in 2021 it was 3 percent (113,000 units), then by the end of 2022 it decreased to 1.8 percent (96,700 units).
