Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan lifts export ban on breeding sheep

The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has amended the decree temporarily banning the export of farm animals outside of Kyrgyzstan. The corresponding decision was made on May 21.

According to the decree, the temporary export ban has been lifted for breeding sheep, including lambs and stud rams, as well as livestock not raised in the Kyrgyz Republic and exported by the state-owned operator Kyrgyz Agroholding.

Previously, the restrictions applied to the export of cattle, horses, sheep, and goats raised in the country. The changes are aimed at ensuring food security and stabilizing food prices.

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, the State Customs Service, and the Border Service have been instructed to strengthen measures to prevent the illegal export of farm animals raised in Kyrgyzstan.

The decree will take effect in seven days after its official publication.

Minister of Agriculture Erlist Akunbekov, at a meeting with breeders of Arashan sheep breed, announced plans to bring this breed to the international market.
