Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of Kyrgyzstan, Gulzat Isamatova, met with Lesslie Viguerie, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the ministry, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Kyrgyzstan — USA cooperation in higher education, science, innovation, and academic mobility.
Gulzat Isamatova emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s interest in expanding cooperation with leading U.S. universities and research centers, as well as in creating additional training opportunities for Kyrgyz students and young scientists, including through the El Umutu personnel training program.
The parties also discussed the development of inter-university cooperation, the implementation of joint educational and research projects, academic exchanges, and improving the quality of higher education. Particular attention was paid to prospects for cooperation in the fields of geology and mining.
The minister proposed an initiative to intensify cooperation between specialized universities and research institutes in Kyrgyzstan and the United States in the areas of training, joint research, and the exchange of experience. Lesslie Viguerie supported the initiative, noting the high potential for bilateral cooperation in this area.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further expanding cooperation in the fields of education, science and innovation, as well as in implementing new joint initiatives aimed at developing human capital and the scientific and technological potential of the two countries.
