Kazakhstan has been identified as the highest alcohol-consuming country in Central Asia. An updated global ranking of per capita alcohol consumption published by the analytics portal World Population Review says.
In the global ranking, Kazakhstan placed in the middle of the list, sharing the 83rd position with Cambodia and Zimbabwe, with an estimated consumption of 5.4 liters of pure alcohol per person per year.
Within Central Asia, Kazakhstan is the absolute leader.

The lowest levels of consumption, close to 0.1 liters per year, were recorded in several predominantly Muslim countries, including Kuwait, Iran, Syria, and Pakistan.
According to the study, the global leader in alcohol consumption is Romania, with 17.1 liters of pure alcohol per person aged 15 and older per year.
