Sadyr Japarov tells officials how to reduce citizens’ complaints

President Sadyr Japarov said a mandatory requirement for local officials to hold regular meetings with residents has been introduced in Kyrgyzstan. He made the announcement during a nationwide meeting with representatives of regional and state authorities.

Under the new decision, the president’s plenipotentiary representatives in the regions, district heads (akims), and city mayors will be required to meet with residents at least twice a year. These meetings are expected to become a permanent mechanism for communication between the authorities and citizens.

According to Japarov, the measure is necessary to ensure that local leaders better understand the real problems faced by residents and can respond promptly to public concerns. He noted that many issues can be resolved at the regional level if they are discussed with citizens in a timely manner.

The authorities emphasized that this new approach is intended to reduce the number of complaints directed to central government bodies and raised on social media, while also increasing the accountability of local officials for their decisions.

Japarov stressed that regular meetings with citizens should not become a mere formality, but should serve as a practical tool for solving local problems and evaluating the performance of public officials.
