Police intercept large drug shipment in Batken region

A large-scale illegal drug transportation has been intercepted in Kyrgyzstan’s Batken region, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the ministry, officers received information about an organized criminal group involved in the illegal transportation of a large consignment of drugs from Tajikistan to Uzbekistan via Kyrgyzstan’s Batken region.

As part of a criminal case opened under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, a driver of a Hyundai Sonata was detained in Kadamdzhay district. A search of the vehicle revealed 10 packages containing a substance with a specific odor. Forensic chemical examination confirmed that the seized substance was hashish, with a total weight of 9 kilograms and 908 grams.

The detainee has been identified as a resident of Batken region, 39, A.S. Investigative actions are ongoing.
